Such a nail biting finish... one of the best match in world cup history. Definitely not the result which India was expecting before the match or even at the half time. Actually neither of the team deserved to lose in this encounter. There were so many turning points in the match - India taking the power play and losing sachin's wicket, heap of wickets falling at the end of India's innings, Munaf's short run from the last ball, bell's lbw decision turned down, again england taking the power play, zak's breathtaking spell, piyush chawla's inexperience. Of the above, Batting power play and DRS(Decision Review system) calls for an assessment. It needs far more thinking from the captain before taking the batting powerplay. Batting powerplay when it was introduced, was largely criticised by many. But now it has added a new dimension to the end overs. It can turn a match on its head. Fielding teams are forced to bring the field in which tempts the batsmen to go air borne. Surely its gonna make the game more interesting. Now the DRS, Bells was reprieved because the distance between the point of impact and the stumps was more than 2.5 meters even though the ball was in line with the middle stump. This 2.5 m rule in the DRS is to accomodate the predictive technology of Hawk eye. If the Hawk eye is not so precise then why to use it?
Coming back to the game in focus, not the kind of performance which was expected from the world cup favourites. This was a no pressure game. If we continue to bowl like this in the knock out stage, it will be all over soon.
